Incorporating a Y Piece into a hydroponics ventilation system allows the grower to divert the air flow from a fan into two channels. Or alternatively to merge two channels of air flow into one! There are many applications for a Y Piece. One popular use for this piece of equipment to draw air from two different places using a single extraction fan. This is particularly useful when you need air exchange in a tent that has more than one compartment, such as a Cloning tent. A Y-Piece can connect to a hydroponics fan or ventilation ducting using ducting clips or duct tape.
WHAT SIZES DOES THE Y-PIECE COME IN?
Y Pieces are available in 100 mm, 125 mm, 150 mm, 200 mm, 250 mm and 315 mm sizes to fit all sizes of ventilation ducting sold at Straight Up Hydroponics. These Y Pieces are of a very high standard and are made of pressed steel. They are securely welded to provide an airtight seal on the joints of the fitting.
A Y-Piece can be useful if you don’t the funds to buy an new fan. Great if you have a fan powerful enough to provide air flow for more than one space. Y-Pieces are also useful for bringing two separate air flows together too. For example, bringing two grow tent ducting outlets together to exit through a single extraction hole in the wall. Bear in mind that using a Y Piece in your ventilation set-up can inhibit the air flow from the fan, and you may have to use a more powerful fan to compensate for this.
